School uniform cosplay is one thing, but P.E. kit cosplay? I’d say that’s one little tiny step too far into the realms of fucked up… Plus, the P.E. kits are so goddamn ugly anyway, with those tight little blue shorts and white t-shirt - at least school uniforms have variety.

This cosplayer in Akiba models the standard P.E. kit, and believe me it is exactly the same in every school across Japan from elementary to high school.

By the way, the sign she’s standing next to says “no live performances in this area”. Does letting people take pictures of your camel toe count as a performance? Apparently not.

If the P.E. kit cosplaying does give you a stiffy, you might wanna check these books at Amazon Japan, which you can now buy in English (I mean, the site interface is English, not the books. That would be silly. Plus, I doubt a lot is written in there really, since they’re photobooks)

LittleTGV is a quaint new Akiba cosplay cafe for trainspotters where all the staff are dressed in various train attendant uniforms. Having opened on my birthday in February 2008, it’s part of the same chain responsible for LittlePSX, LittleMSN and LittleBSD. The names are all deceptively geeky so that only a particular subculture will “get” the reference. Luckily, I am a multitalented geeks, so I can let you in on the secret… TGV is the “Trans Grande Vitesse”, the French equivalent of the Shinkansen / Bullet train. Gaming otaku will know PSX refers to the original Sony Playstation, while only serious computer geeks will get the Berkeley Software Distribution reference.

I think they could try to at least try to be consistent in their uniforms though. The cutest part of the cafe has to be the N-guage model railroad….

I’m sure a lot of my readers are wannabe otaku, so I hope this post serves as a warning to how depraved the world of figurines can go, and why you should get out now. Over the past few days, an awful lot of pictures and material has emerged from the Wonderfest 2008 otaku-orgy, where toy makers show off their latest erotic figurines and cosplayers get to carry fake guns and swords - so I thought we should take a look at some highlights, if you can call them that. Just don’t expect any otaku oriented wank material like details of the company / figurine name and plastic material used in production of the figure, dimensions etc; because you should know by now I don’t write shit like that…

Human nature is a funny thing. As little boys, we have all at some point once checked our sisters barbie doll’s private bits, only to find painted on white knickers or a stubby mass of skin coloured nothingness. But most of us grow out of that and eventually get laid. It saddens me to think that otaku still run around doll fairs taking photos like this…

While most Japanese students are stressing in a typical shy and withdrawn Japanese student style, possibly even contemplating suicide and/or taking out some fellow classmates, regarding the recently announced across-the-board 10-20% increase in lesson time, some have just flipped. We should all take a moment to appreciate these unique individuals who have broken the shackles of Japanese tradition, and realised that the not only does the system suck, but also that their unique talents lie in the domain of cross-dressing. “Low Angler” is a Japanese term that’s used to describe Otaku who take pictures from a low angle ~ one might even go so far as to call it an up-skirt, but not when one is amongst civilized company. Here’s a photo from Akiba Blog demonstrating this phenomenon:

I guess it doesn’t seem entirely untoward at first glance, but look again and you will see she is standing on a fucking ladder! Added to which, the low-angler in the right of the picture is wearing a mask to disguise his pedophilistic maniacal grin.

(Yeah, I did just make up the word pedophilistic. I’m a fucking English teacher, we can do that shit).

The pervs over at MSN went to check out a rather special maid cafe in Akihabara called “Tsui ni koko made kita ka”~ or “You finally got here then?”. From the outset, it appears to be quite a normal maid cafe for your regular otaku ilk, but don’t be fooled. While you were busy figuring out which of the gorgeous staff you would like to f*ck, you failed to notice they are in fact all men. Boys, even. In fairness, the one on the far right looks quite do-able.

According to the article, these guys spent time scoping out the scene before using “guerilla” tactics to open their own maid-cafe. The cafe has been doing remarkably well, though sadly it can only open a few times a month as the cross-dressing guys are in fact all upstanding members of society and have real jobs they must be getting back to.
