jamie | September 21, 2007There has a been a long standing rumor about used schoolgirls panties being sold in vending machines, so I think it’s about time we set things straight with this malicious rumor….
…it’s true.

Actually, this isn’t very good proof. The kind of packages shown above are sold legally in nearly every adult store thats worth its vibrating balls, along with schoolgirl uniforms. The pictures may indeed be real - otherwise it would be false advertising - you can’t just repackage your grannies old diapers and say a high school girl wore them. Those of you that can read Japanese will notice that no part of the package actually says “high school girls”, just shows a picture of someone in a high school outfit. So these are perfectly legal.
There were stories of shopkeepers who would force girls to undress in front of the client, so they knew it was the real thing, but that was behind closed doors.
The truth is that even if a number of vending machines did exist in Tokyo, they have since been cracked down on. There really is no point of having them, other than a talking point for the tourists. In any city in Japan, you can get dial-a-whore, and many delivery sex services employ high school girls - but obviously don’t shout about it publicly. There are clubs, maybe not officially legal but operating in the open none the less, where you sit behind a 2-way mirror and pay to watch a high school girl undress. These are not stories.

By the way, I got me a book recently called“The Japanese Disease: Sex and Sleaze in Modern Japan” (Declan Hayes). It’s a great read for anyone interested in the dark secrets of Japan, and it’s terrifying for anyone actually living here, believe - it has proper references too! Despite it’s textbook size and lengthy historical introduction, I was so riveted I read it in one weekend!

The book I recommended is a great book. It gives you insight into Japan that as a foreigner, you often don’t get to see. Japan is not a perfect world free of crime and full of ninja and samurai and geisha. It is however where I choose to live, so bear that in mind when you think I’m over criticising Japan.
