Something about this picture just appealed to me. The “Death Note” book she has is reference to a manga/anime that’s pretty popular at the moment - at least, the elementary kid I teach wouldn’t shut up about it… Click for full size picture, or read on for more on Death Note.

For anyone whose never heard of it, Death Note is a manga, made anime, made live action movie and dramatization. Though I haven’t seen all of it, the basic plot revolves around that little book she’s got on her lap above - an apparently magical notebook that grants to ability to kill anybody by simply writing their full name in there. You can also specify how they die, when etc, or just let them fall down with a heart attack if your imagination isn’t in top shape.
